Mariya Zvonkovich is an artist and educator who began her career teaching art in both the Los Angeles and Chicago Public School systems. She now teaches drawing and painting for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and for the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center's Bemis Art School. She held the position of Master Pastellist for the Colorado Springs Art Students League; and through her company, Painters Retreats International, conducted workshops in the southwest and in Mexico. She is currently represented by Squash Blossom Gallery in Colorado Springs, and Mary Martin Gallery in Charleston, SC.

We find what we pursue. An addictive thing about painting is that I can redefine a view of the world – and if only briefly, we get to live in that world together.  It’s a shifting, lost-and-found kind of Truth - any definition is fragmentary and has no limits.  The only limit is what I see or don’t see at the moment, and that changes.  As my work evolves, I like to think that it reflects the charged rhythms, vibrations and energy – the very magic of our universe and our participation in the creative process.     - MZ
