Artist Statement
G.K. Chesterton wrote that "the pursuit of beauty is the way to find it; that imagination is a sort of incantation that can call it up."
We find what we pursue. An addictive thing about painting is that I can redefine a view of the world – and if only briefly, I get to live in that world. It’s a shifting, lost-and-found kind of Truth - any definition is fragmentary and has no limits. The only limit is what I see or don’t see at the moment, and that changes with time and history. Of interest to me is the function of current events, which often invigorates previous pieces with new layers of meaning. As my work evolves, I like to think that it reflects the charged rhythms, vibrations and energy – the very magic of our universe and our participation in the creative process.
